There are two sides to every Milestone…before and after. Regardless if we look at our lives from a personal or a business perspective, we all can remember times in our lives and those close to us that are significant (a.k.a. Milestones). A Milestone, within our context, is defined by Merriam Webster as an important point in the progress or development of something: a very important event or advance. We all have them and these events or milestones should be celebrated.
What does a Milestone represent to you?
When I think about that question, accomplished goals come to my mind…significant goals. One example, is The Pinnacle Club (TPC). TPC is an annual awards trip for top performers here at TYGES. It’s not easy to obtain and will take extreme talent, mastery of a space, and a continued dedication in the pursuit to help others.
In 2014 Tim Saumier, Steve Sanders, Katrina Blalock, and Kelly Rangel were the top performers that achieved this milestone out of an office of about 25. They just returned back from an incredible vacation celebrating this success of the 2014 Pinnacle Club. Congrats!
As Webster states, a milestone is an important point in the progress or development of something.
I think that “progress or development” is a crucial part of the definition of milestone. In other words, you are not really celebrating the milestone itself; yet, you are celebrating the “progress or development of something.” This something could be you, your family, or the pursuit of excellence in your Life that more than likely will positively impact others.
As you pursue the next big thing within your life or within your business, remember two things:
- Keep in mind that a Milestone is not a destination. Don’t get me wrong, it should be celebrated and remembered once achieved; however, then it’s time to move on to the next significant accomplish in your Life.
- Keep your focus on the WHY you are doing what you do. Always keep getting better and doing good things for others.
More than likely you have already achieved some sort of milestone in your life and that is awesome. Like a race, keep moving on to the next milestone…then the next…then the next.
In life, we don’t know where the finish line is…so run like it is right in front of you.
If you know Tim, Steve, Katrina, or Kelly reach out and congratulate them on this great accomplishment. They remember, they have celebrated, and like any great performer, they are already helping others as they move on to their next milestone.
